Reader Poll: Favorite New Podcast of 2015

December 1, 2015 by Nathan Bowden 22 Comments

pp poll button (1x)Update: This poll is now closed, but you can see the results here.

We’re in the middle of a podcast boom. There’s no doubt about it. Each week seems to bring a slew of new and interesting podcasts for our bulging podcast queues. As we get to the end of 2015, I’d love to hear from readers about their favorite new podcast of the year. I’ve collected 15 of the more popular shows to have launched this year. Select your favorite from the list or enter your own. The poll will close on December 14th and, assuming there are enough votes, I’ll post the final results a week later. Thanks and here’s to an even bigger and better podcast year in 2016!

What a great new podcast; so much variation in content, always delivered with such humour.

Thanks for the comment Robin! I think you’re referring to The Allusionist here. Agreed, it is a fantastic show.

SO hard to choose! In the end I had to choose for The Allusionist, but Mystery show was *so* close. And Surprisingly Awesome is starting to find its footing too, especially with the Tubthumping episode. We live in a glorious age.

I would totally go with Mystery show if there were more than 5 episodes!

AGREED. I stopped subscribing based on this lull of stuff with no updates.

Going with The Black Tapes here, but I think The Message could’ve been completely awesome had it been longer in length.

I have a bunch of interesting new podcasts to listen to now, thanks! I came to vote for Lore a few days ago and it remains my favorite – from story structure to Aaron’s delivery – brilliant. 🙂

I wish we could see which podcast people chose if they voted “Other”. I bet that would offer a lot of interesting and obscure podcasts to discover, such as my podcast, Endless Reverberations.

Sorry all the “Other” votes aren’t visible. I’m kind of limited by the polling tool I’ve chosen to use here. I’ve gotten a lot of “Other” votes, and if there’s enough interest and time, I could post a final list once the poll is complete. In the meantime, for those interested, here are the top write-in vote getters so far:

      1. The ManBuyCow Podcast (18)
      2. Breach Boys Podcast (16)
      3. HOME: Stories From L.A. (14)
      4. Behind Enemy Lines (13)

I voted for the Black Tapes, but I also really love Limetown and The Message. If I could have voted for all three I would have. Please, please keep these types of podcasts coming.

I had such a hard decision with this! I love Lore, Black Tapes, Mystery Show, and Hidden Brain! 🙂 Good year for podcasts (or should I say, podcast listeners?).

Not sure why Tanis is not listed. I love it. Also love ‘The Message’, ‘Limetown’, ‘Drabblecast’ and ‘Nightvale’. I loved ‘The Black Tapes’ when it was on, so that is who I have voted for. Back soon I hope.
Lovely to have these others to sample too.

Podcast Spotlight: The Message

The shows they listened to had names like The Shadow, The Mysterious Traveler, Lights Out, Suspense, and The Mercury Theatre on the Air (the Orson Welles show responsible for “The War of the Worlds”).
