The music-streaming service Spotify held an event today to announce a number of changes it’s making in an attempt to evolve into what it describes as “your 24-hour entertainment destination.” The announcement covered enhancements to its core music streaming service but also highlighted the addition of new content to Spotify, including podcasts. Spotify users will now be able to use the service to listen to podcasts, watch video clips from sources like Comedy Central, ESPN, TED and Vice, and stream original Spotify audio and video content. In addition, Spotify will be able to learn from what a listener likes and will recommend other content, including podcasts, tailored to that listener.
The updates begin rolling out today for iPhone users in the US, UK, Germany and Sweden, with other markets and platforms following “in the near future.”
