On the heels of the inaugural public radio podcast upfront co-hosted by WNYC last month, WNYC announced yesterday it will be holding a first-of-its-kind festival devoted to women in podcasting. The festival, called “Werk It: How to Be a Grown Ass Podcaster,” will be held in New York City on June 4th and 5th. According to WNYC, the festival will be invite-only, focusing on female podcast hosts and producers from around the country, but will include an event open to the public each night at 7pm at The Greene Space in New York Public Radio’s headquarters.
On the night of June 4th, comedian and host of the Lies podcast, Sara Schaefer, will host WNYC’s How to Be a Grown Ass Woman, described as “a night of hilarious, frank discussion about stepping it up in life.” The following night, Heben Nigatu and Tracy Clayton will record a live version of their podcast, Another Round. Tickets to both events can be purchased on The Greene Space website. People unable to make the public events in person will be able to watch the events live or on demand also on The Greene Space website.
